About the Role

The Environmental Specialist supports the Environmental Manager by collecting and reporting data and operating environmental systems, sometimes in a supervisory capacity. This role may also oversee field staff on construction and technical issues across multiple divisions. Key duties include monitoring environmental conditions, conducting storm water compliance inspections, sampling, and training per SWPPP and the Industrial Storm Water General Permit. The specialist also handles public relations with division managers and regulators, performs site audits, prepares monthly environmental reports, and manages sampling projects. Additional responsibilities involve rolling out projects, supervising landfill monitoring and gas extraction or leachate systems, overseeing external vendors, and coordinating air and water monitoring to ensure compliance. The role also provides formal and informal training for technicians, landfill managers, and other staff, and may assist with construction project tracking and compliance.
