About the Role
The role is for an HV Primary Engineer who will support the design, development, and delivery of high‑voltage primary systems for substations and transmission infrastructure across Australia. Working in an EPC or D&C environment, the engineer will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including civil, structural, protection, and secondary systems engineers—to deliver integrated and constructible solutions from concept through commissioning. • Validate designs, resolve conflicts, and ensure performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance. • Lead development of innovative, sustainable HV designs using RAM principles to enhance maintainability and availability. • Integrate engineering processes and address major design‑control challenges. • Mentor multidisciplinary teams on design controls and systems engineering to improve quality and efficiency. • Align systems engineering with project objectives, managing and verifying requirements across disciplines. • Lead problem‑solving for complex technical issues, balancing cost, schedule, and quality while optimizing constructability and performance.

What You Bring
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; chartered status (RPEV, RPEQ, NER, CPEng) or eligibility within six months. • At least 10 years senior experience in HV substation and primary system design (≥220 kV), with 5 years of field‑based experience preferred. • Proven expertise in detailed primary and substation design, grid connections, and compliance with Australian and international standards. • Skilled in insulation coordination, EMF, earthing, lightning protection, and HV design tools such as Cymcap, EMTP, and CDEGS. • Strong understanding of HV equipment specifications, secondary systems, civil/structural interfaces, and ability to produce clear technical documentation. • Experience with Tier 1 or Tier 2 contractors or TNSP is advantageous.
