• Supervise contractors and conduct routine monitoring during site investigations. • Perform field work including walkovers, soil and groundwater sampling, and logging soils. • Analyse data, create presentations, and produce environmental desk studies, site investigation and verification reports. • Assist in preparation of fee proposals for future projects. • Receive training to develop skills for managing small to medium sized projects, including financial management. • Ensure health and safety compliance during all field activities. • Apply uncertainty analysis and simulation techniques to support decision‑making. • Build positive working relationships with colleagues, clients, and contractors. • Take responsibility for personal development and continuous learning.

What You Bring

ERM is seeking a motivated Contaminated Land & Remediation Consulting Associate to join its Liability Portfolio Management and Remediation team in the UK. The position reports to program managers and partners and offers the chance to work on diverse site investigation and remediation projects across the region. The role is primarily field‑based, with most activities performed on client sites, requiring regular travel. Ideal candidates will have an academic background in environmental sciences, hydrogeology, geology, geochemistry, chemistry, or equivalent practical experience. Experience in environmental or water consultancy, particularly supporting investigations, risk assessments, or working on active industrial sites with strong safety cultures, is highly regarded. The role demands strong communication skills, initiative, and the ability to solve problems with limited data. Applicants must be organized, capable of prioritising workloads, and able to work both independently and collaboratively. Applicants should hold a full UK driving licence and be prepared to travel regularly.
