About the Role

In this role you will contribute to concept studies, strategies and drawing packages that progress to planning applications, technical approvals and construction issues. You will work across a variety of development projects for multiple sectors and clients, often handling several assignments simultaneously while ensuring delivery to budget, programme, technical standards and legal requirements. You will be supported by the Cambridge team to develop your technical capabilities and advance your career, engaging with clients, stakeholders and internal/external design teams. Your work will help deliver high‑profile UK developments such as EDF Energy Sizewell C, HZI Energy Recovery Facility, Cambridge Eastern Access and the Norwich Western Link. The Development Team, part of the Planning and Development business unit, comprises over 800 specialists who manage projects from land acquisition through to scheme implementation. We assist public and private land promoters, house builders, architects, government bodies and local authorities with civil engineering, highways, utilities, drainage, flood risk, SuDS, site appraisal and strategic planning services.

What You Bring

We are looking for candidates with knowledge of highway design, drainage strategies, flood risk assessment, utility design and the wider development industry. Familiarity with hydraulics, hydrology, geotechnics and construction design stages is desirable, as is the ability to produce masterplans, site appraisals, technical reports, design calculations and construction drawings using software such as Info Drainage, AutoCAD, Civil 3D or PDS. Strong communication skills, experience liaising with clients and authorities, and awareness of legal, planning and contractual processes are essential. Post‑graduate experience and progression towards Chartership are preferred.
