About the Role

Due to an upcoming retirement, we are looking for a CAD Designer to join the team at our Sun Prairie Innovation Center. In this role you will make an important impact by developing design concepts within CAD and modeling parts and products. You will support our product design efforts as we continue our company growth into 2026 and beyond. The CAD Designer will create reliable, durable, and manufacturable designs that meet standards and aesthetic goals. You will produce CAD models, assemblies, and detailed documentation, manage bills of materials, and perform tolerance and engineering analysis. Collaboration with vendors, purchasing, and prototyping teams ensures specifications, cost estimates, and testing readiness. • Develop design concepts addressing reliability, durability, standards, manufacturability, and aesthetics. • Model parts, assemblies, and products in CAD. • Create and maintain design documentation and bills of materials. • Perform tolerance stack‑up calculations and engineering analysis to select optimal designs. • Work with vendors to define specifications, obtain quotations, and support cost estimates. • Coordinate with purchasing for vendor qualification and selection. • Prepare prototypes for testing, including 3D printing and other methods. • Ensure adherence to CAD data management processes and project documentation procedures. • Follow the Quality Management System throughout design activities.

What You Bring

We seek candidates with a two‑year technical degree or equivalent experience, at least two years of 2D CAD drafting and three years of solid‑modeling using Pro‑Engineer or SolidWorks. Familiarity with PLM systems, especially Windchill, and knowledge of manufacturing methods such as sheet‑metal fabrication and injection molding are essential. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills, plus proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic HVAC and electrical concepts, round out the profile. • Hold a two‑year technical degree or equivalent education/experience. • Minimum 2 years experience in 2D CAD design and drafting. • 3+ years solid‑modeling experience with Pro‑Engineer or SolidWorks. • Experience with a PLM system; Windchill preferred. • Knowledge of manufacturing methods such as sheet‑metal fabrication and injection‑molded plastics. • Understanding of prototyping and 3D‑printing techniques. • Ability to read, generate, and interpret specifications and drawings, offering multiple design solutions. • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. • Familiarity with HVAC systems and equipment. • Strong analytical skills (statistics, power analysis, sampling) and basic household electrical wiring knowledge. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Strong organizational abilities.
