About the Role
The Marketing Services Manager for the Northern California Area Water Business Group will lead a team of marketing coordinators and proposal managers, partnering with Business Development Leaders and management to drive growth, craft strategic messaging, and deliver high‑quality proposals and presentations for client pursuits. • Retain, develop, and supervise proposal and marketing employees as assigned • Apply the go/no‑go decision process according to HDR’s Matrix of Authority • Lead pursuit teams in creating win strategies, key messaging, and clear pursuit materials • Facilitate development of persuasive proposal and interview content • Develop and manage proposal schedules and ensure compliance for all pursuits • Engage appropriate marketing services resources within pursuit teams • Create scalable processes, workflows, and AI‑enabled tools for proposal development • Conduct quality reviews of proposal and interview materials • Coach interview teams to deliver key messages effectively • Facilitate debriefs to identify improvement opportunities and assess competitiveness • Recognize and celebrate pursuit successes and milestones • Manage workload demands of proposal managers and marketing coordinators • Identify and recruit candidates for open marketing positions • Train, mentor, and onboard marketing staff on proposal processes and best practices • Manage client relationship and financial systems for reporting metrics and dashboards • Support development of annual and long‑term strategic plans, including growth initiatives • Implement key growth initiatives and investments defined in strategic plans • Develop and execute client plans and long‑term market share strategies • Create marketing collateral to support business development • Develop business relationships with teaming partners • Direct content marketing campaigns to strengthen brand and showcase thought leadership • Publish engaging digital content that reflects HDR’s brand and thought leadership • Implement strategies to elevate HDR’s brand and talent within industry associations • Assist in planning and fulfilling conference sponsorship benefits as needed • Develop internal communications content such as announcements, presentations, videos, and webinars • Arrange professional photography for projects • Coordinate large internal meetings, both in‑person and virtual • Maintain inventory of branded materials for client visits, conferences, and recruiting

What You Bring
• Articulate HDR’s capabilities and competitive advantages • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (Preferred Qualification) • Deep knowledge of A/E/C industry procurement of professional services (Preferred Qualification) • 10+ years leading or managing proposal efforts within A/E/C (Preferred Qualification) • Ability to work effectively with diverse staff in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment (Preferred Qualification) • Minimum of 8 years relevant industry experience (Required Qualification) • Self‑starter with a history of completing projects with limited oversight (Required Qualification) • Ability to motivate and inspire others (Required Qualification) • Experience in sales and developing effective win strategies (Required Qualification) • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (Required Qualification) • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) (Required Qualification) • Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign) (Required Qualification) • Willingness to travel and engage in‑person (Required Qualification) • Experience winning high‑value contracts in the A/E/C industry (Required Qualification) • Ability to write compelling content based on technical staff information (Required Qualification)
