The role involves constructing, maintaining, and operating electric distribution and transmission systems, supporting routine maintenance and emergency storm restoration. Workers must collaborate with crews to ensure safe and efficient line work. • Construct, maintain, and restore high‑voltage distribution and transmission lines. • Perform emergency repairs and support routine line operations. • Respond to after‑hour and weekend call‑outs as needed. • Use hand tools such as shovels, sledgehammers and 90 lb jackhammers; work in confined areas. • Operate bucket trucks, digger derricks, trenchers and other utility equipment (journey).

Xcel Energy Distribution Department is hiring Apprentice Lineman (1st‑4th Year) or Journey Worker for its Pampa, TX location. As an apprentice you will learn a rewarding career in constructing, maintaining, removing and restoring high‑voltage distribution and transmission lines. The company’s Department of Labor‑certified apprentice program is recognized nationwide. Apprentice candidates must meet education, licensing, safety, and physical ability standards, and reside near the Pampa Service Center. Journey Worker applicants need a Journeyman Lineman Certification, a valid Class A CDL, and the ability to perform all aspects of electric distribution work. • Travel for extended periods when required. • Lift and maneuver up to 90 lb; climb poles up to 100 ft and work aerially with a safety belt. • Hold a high school diploma or GED; obtain a Class A CDL within 120 days (apprentice) or possess a Journeyman Lineman Certification (journey). • Pass EEI CAST assessment (apprentice) and Behavioral Assessment (journey); meet federal DOT physical and obtain Medical Examiner’s Certificate. • Demonstrate strong safety awareness, teamwork attitude, and effective verbal/written communication. • Reside within 20 mi of the Pampa Service Center.
