About the Role
This role provides leadership within a sector of the organization, ensuring civil engineering deliverables meet or exceed industry and company standards for design, safety, and functionality, while complying with local, state, and federal regulations. The incumbent will give proactive strategic leadership to the civil engineering discipline, overseeing permit reviews, design plans, construction inspections, and ensuring compliance with state and federal standards and sound engineering practice. The position leads large, complex civil engineering projects, managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and contract work, while also pursuing business development and supporting the long‑term growth strategy for infrastructure opportunities. Key duties include representing the discipline to external agencies, developing proposals, interpreting data, mentoring staff, fostering innovation, and exercising ethical decision‑making in line with WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Provide strategic leadership for the civil engineering discipline and function. • Review permit applications, design plans, contracts and conduct construction inspections for regulatory compliance. • Lead large, complex civil engineering projects, managing budgets, schedules, subcontractors and contract work. • Drive business development and pipeline growth for infrastructure opportunities in the assigned geography. • Lead technical aspects of contract negotiations, presentations and meetings. • Serve as liaison with federal, state, local agencies, clients and industry groups. • Develop proposals, scopes, timelines, pricing and ensure compliance with all codes and regulations. • Mentor and manage staff, providing performance guidance and professional development. • Promote innovation, ethical decision‑making and adherence to WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Apply tactical lateral thinking, analytical abilities and attention to detail under pressure. • Maintain a strong safety record and comply with WSP health, safety and conduct policies.

What You Bring
Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Engineering, 12+ years of experience, a professional engineer license, and advanced proficiency in civil engineering principles and software. The candidate must also demonstrate strong leadership, communication skills, a commitment to safety, and adaptability. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Master’s preferred) and a professional engineer license (multi‑state preferred). • Possess 12+ years of civil/infrastructure design experience. • Demonstrate advanced proficiency in civil engineering principles and design software (e.g., MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, ArcGIS). • Have strong knowledge of construction laws, codes, regulations and compliance practices. • Exhibit proven leadership, interpersonal communication and stakeholder influencing skills. • Adapt quickly to changing schedules and travel as project requirements dictate.
