About the Role
Supervisor Radiation Protection Operations at Dresden Nuclear Power Station in Morris, IL. The primary purpose of this position is to direct Radiation Protection Technicians in implementing decontamination, instrumentation, planning, scheduling, procedures, training, radiation exposure control, and radioactive waste programs to support plant operation and maintenance. The role ensures compliance with regulatory and state requirements and serves as the interface between plant staff and regulators on radiation protection matters. Daily responsibilities include supervising, monitoring, and coaching employees to maintain a productive workforce that adheres to company policies and collective bargaining agreements. The supervisor manages the functional Radiation Protection program to ensure timely work completion and maintains ALARA exposure levels for nuclear workers. Effective communication of company programs, announcements, and policies to assigned employees is required, as is gathering feedback from staff. Direct supervision of Laborers and Radiation Protection Technicians involves hiring, training, and overseeing field work. The supervisor is accountable for managing plant contaminated square footage and personnel contamination events, and must develop and deliver oral and written communications for all audiences. Additional duties may include emergency response, department duty coverage, call‑out responsibilities, and supporting outage activities. • Direct and supervise Radiation Protection Technicians in decontamination, instrumentation, training, and waste programs. • Ensure compliance with regulatory, state, and company radiation protection requirements. • Manage daily RP program operations to maintain ALARA exposure levels for nuclear workers. • Oversee hiring, training, and performance of Laborers and Radiation Protection Technicians. • Communicate company policies, announcements, and feedback between staff and management. • Account for plant contaminated area metrics and personnel contamination events. • Participate in emergency response, department duty coverage, and outage support activities.

What You Bring
Required minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree with five years of applied radiation protection experience, a Senior Reactor Operator license with five years of experience, an associate’s degree with seven years, or a high school diploma/GED with nine years of experience, along with required access and medical clearance. Preferred qualifications are successful completion of the National Registry Radiation Protection Technicians (NRRPT) certification and an associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a science‑related field such as health physics, chemistry, physics, or medical physics. • Required: 5–9 years of applied radiation protection experience with appropriate education or Senior Reactor Operator license. • Preferred: NRRPT certification and a science‑related associate or bachelor's degree.
