Head of HVDC C&C Civil AMEA
Lead civil construction for HVDC converter stations across the AMEA region.

About the Role
In this role you will develop and implement the strategic vision for civil construction, aligning it with global business objectives. You will lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing team of civil construction managers and engineers, ensuring they have the competence, tools, and processes needed to deliver projects on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will act as the primary contact for all civil‑related matters, building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Your responsibilities include identifying and mitigating technical, commercial, environmental, and safety risks, managing departmental budgets and resources, and supporting civil input during tendering and bidding phases while championing a robust HSE culture. • Define and execute the civil construction strategy for HVDC projects in the AMEA region. • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of civil construction managers and engineers. • Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of civil works, ensuring schedule, budget, and quality targets. • Conduct constructability and design reviews, applying lessons learned and best practices. • Serve as the primary liaison for civil matters with internal and external stakeholders. • Identify, assess, and mitigate civil‑related technical, commercial, environmental, and safety risks. • Manage departmental budgets, resource allocation, and staffing to maximize efficiency and profitability. • Provide civil expertise during tendering and bidding for new HVDC projects. • Champion Hitachi Energy’s HSE policies and promote a strong safety culture on all civil activities. • Drive process standardization, optimization, and adoption of new technologies in civil construction.

What You Bring
The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and brings at least ten years of progressive civil engineering or construction experience, including three years in a senior leadership role. Experience with large‑scale infrastructure projects, especially in power transmission or HVDC, strong cross‑cultural awareness, and fluency in English are essential, along with a proven record of delivering complex projects in multinational environments. • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. • Minimum 10 years of civil engineering/construction experience, including 3 years in senior leadership. • Proven track record delivering large‑scale infrastructure, preferably power transmission/HVDC. • Experience managing diverse, multi‑national civil teams. • Strong strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and negotiation skills. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational abilities. • Demonstrated cross‑cultural awareness and experience working in the AMEA region. • Proficiency in spoken and written English. • High personal integrity and commitment to ethical behavior.
