About the Role
Working with an energetic, high‑performing team, you will identify process shortcomings and apply change‑management programs, carry out product and engineering activities, and help draft and evaluate engineering standards under senior guidance. You will also support knowledge‑management systems and contribute to feasibility testing of engineering solutions, while building personal capabilities through training, professional accreditation, and staying current with industry best practices. • Assist in design of highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails, and bridges. • Perform engineering design tasks from preliminary to final design, including geometric layouts, alignments, profiles, and cross‑sections. • Prepare cost estimates, technical reports, memos, and transportation planning documents. • Collect, compile, and analyze traffic, highway, and crash data for safety studies and operational analysis. • Identify process shortcomings and apply change‑management programs to improve workflows. • Contribute to product development by analyzing customer needs and delivering engineering solutions. • Support drafting and evaluation of engineering standards and specifications under senior guidance. • Provide advice and support for knowledge‑management systems. • Participate in professional development, maintain EIT certification, and pursue external accreditation.

What You Bring
The US West Region is seeking a motivated Entry Level Civil Engineer – Highways & Roads to join our growing team in San Diego, CA. This role will support the delivery of highways, interchanges, local roads, roundabouts, trails, bridges, and other vital improvements. The position will be based in the San Diego office and network with our West Region offices, especially those in California. A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering is required, along with 0‑2 years of experience and an Engineer in Training (E.I.T.) certificate. Proficiency in AutoCAD is essential, and you will perform design tasks, cost estimates, reports, and data analysis for transportation projects. • Proficiency in AutoCAD; Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil Engineering; 0‑2 years experience.
