About the Role
The senior engineer will manage, plan and lead engineering design projects for sanitary sewer collection systems, pumping and lift stations, force mains, interceptors, water distribution systems, green infrastructure, reservoirs, and water/wastewater treatment plants. Responsibilities also include managing a portfolio of client projects, supervising mid‑ to junior‑level engineers and project support staff, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope and budget, and maintaining client and stakeholder relationships. Key duties involve developing detailed project plans, tracking progress, managing scope, schedule and cost changes, measuring performance, performing risk management, and consistently achieving planned profit margins. The role provides specialized technical input, develops study and design procedures, participates in interdisciplinary reviews, prepares cost estimates, conducts quality control reviews, and may serve as a technical advisor for the team.

What You Bring
AECOM is seeking a motivated and experienced Senior Water/Wastewater Engineer to join our expanding water engineering practice. The role can be based in Roanoke, Virginia Beach, Arlington, VA, or Charlotte/Raleigh, NC, and involves work on wet‑weather remediation programs, sewer collection, potable water distribution, storage, and pumping station projects in southwest Virginia and the Mid‑Atlantic, with occasional travel outside the United States. Preferred qualifications include a Professional Engineering License in Virginia, 12 years of related experience, proficiency with Unifier, e‑Builder, CM14, and P6 scheduling software, and experience with municipal water/wastewater and federal clients. Knowledge of federal, state, and local permitting regulations and a proven track record of delivering complex construction projects are also valued. This position does not offer relocation assistance or sponsorship. Travel may be required both within and outside the United States, and U.S. citizenship is required. • BS Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related degree and 6 years of related experience or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or educated • Proven experience with managing engineering design projects for sanitary sewer collection systems (including large diameter pipe,) pumping stations, lift stations, force mains, interceptors, water distribution systems • Professional Engineers License required • Solid knowledge of Civil 3-D, MS Office Suite, Revit • Demonstrated experience in business development • Due to the nature of projects, U.S. Citizenship is required • Position may require travel within and/or outside of the United States
