About the Role
The Senior Counsel will oversee legal matters for one or more business units, serve as the lead legal representative, and provide real‑time, practical advice to manage risk and avoid disputes. Responsibilities include drafting and reviewing commercial and construction agreements, managing litigation, arbitration and mediation processes, supporting pre‑construction contract work, and evaluating and managing outside counsel. • Provide comprehensive legal guidance to ensure compliance and promote a culture of transparency, safety, and operational excellence. • Act as the primary legal representative for assigned business units. • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial and construction agreements, focusing on key terms and conditions. • Deliver real‑time advice aimed at risk avoidance and dispute prevention. • Coordinate internal and external legal resources, manage outside counsel, control costs, and meet project deadlines. • Maintain organized records of all legal documents and proceedings. • Support pre‑construction activities by reviewing, drafting, and negotiating construction contracts. • Oversee litigation, arbitration, and mediation processes, including discovery support. • Assist corporate initiatives and strategic transaction opportunities as needed. • Evaluate and supervise the performance of outside counsel.

What You Bring
Cajun Industries, LLC is seeking an experienced Construction Law attorney to join as Senior Counsel. The role provides legal support across the organization, drafting and negotiating contracts related to construction and engineering, and advising on a wide variety of matters including safety, health, environmental, leases, licenses, purchases, sales, real estate, employment, insurance, litigation and dispute resolution. The successful candidate must demonstrate sound judgment, strong verbal and written communication, excellent project‑management and analytical skills, and the ability to translate complex legal issues into actionable business guidance. Broad legal subject‑matter expertise, strong business acumen, meticulous organization, and the capacity to work independently while meeting competing priorities are essential. Required qualifications include a Juris Doctorate, admission to the Texas or Louisiana bar (or a jurisdiction permitting in‑house registration with the Louisiana Bar), and at least ten years of construction‑law experience; a technical bachelor’s degree and prior in‑house experience are preferred.
