About the Role

The Plant Maintenance Technician monitors and maintains all plant systems and equipment, including balers, conveyor belts, gearboxes, electrical motors, pulleys, shafts, and bearings. The role responds to system failures, taking corrective action or assigning repairs to keep operations safe and efficient. Reporting to the Plant Maintenance Manager, the technician ensures equipment operates reliably. Key duties include performing repairs in line with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules and OSHA regulations, conducting preventive maintenance inspections, diagnosing and rebuilding major equipment such as conveyors, hydraulic power packs, eddy currents, optical sorters, compressors, and more. The technician maintains the Daily Equipment Inspections backlog, adjusts work procedures to meet production schedules, and inspects third‑party repairs. They also recommend improvements to production, equipment performance, and product quality while handling emergency breakdown service calls. • Perform repairs adhering to WM Safety, Life Critical Rules, and OSHA standards. • Conduct preventive maintenance inspections and rebuild major equipment (e.g., conveyors, hydraulic packs, eddy currents, optical sorters). • Manage Daily Equipment Inspections backlog and adjust work procedures to meet production schedules. • Inspect and evaluate third‑party repairs and recommend performance improvements. • Respond to emergency breakdowns and service calls with minimal supervision. • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA regulations. • Work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, to support plant operations.

What You Bring

The position requires flexibility to work nights and weekends as needed, and the ability to work with limited supervision while managing multiple priorities. A clean, safe work area must be maintained in compliance with corporate and OSHA standards. Candidates must have at least two years of relevant experience, be 18 or older, and be legally authorized to work in the United States. They must be able to meet the physical demands of the job, pass pre‑employment drug screening, a physical exam, and background checks. Physical demands include working inside gas‑plant environments and outdoors in inclement weather, heat, and humidity.
