About the Role

The Energy Unit drives projects across the energy transition and nuclear defence markets, delivering services throughout the full project lifecycle—from advisory and feasibility to design, construction support, and site supervision. Its multidisciplinary teams work on electrical transmission, HVDC, solar, battery storage, wind, tidal, nuclear generation and disposal, hydropower, offshore wind, and thermal transmission projects across the UK and Europe. • Administer ground investigation contracts, develop scopes, specifications, and verify data for ground models. • Conduct geotechnical desk studies, preliminary assessments, and review existing reports. • Manage investigation contractors on‑site and off‑site, reviewing RAMS and ensuring health and safety compliance. • Prepare geotechnical interpretative reports and perform analysis using ground modelling software. • Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineers to produce integrated geotechnical assessments. • Identify and assess geotechnical hazards, communicate risks, and propose appropriate solutions. • Respond to technical queries and forward information to relevant designers. • Support proposal development and create client tender packages.

What You Bring

• Degree in civil or geotechnical engineering (or related field). • Experience in energy developments, preferably in transmission & distribution, renewable/thermal generation, or nuclear sectors. • Working towards or recently achieved chartered status. • Proven experience in ground investigation site work and managing contractors. • Knowledge of CDM roles, especially Principal Designer and Principal Contractor duties. • Experience in foundation geotechnical design. • Strong written communication and report‑writing skills; ability to engage with clients and contractors.
