About the Role
The DevOps Lead is a hands‑on, technical contributor within the Cloud Practice team, providing design, implementation, automation, and operational expertise for AWS cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines. Acting as an in‑house consultant, the role collaborates with development teams, managed cloud partners, and AWS account teams to ensure best‑practice architecture, networking integration, and governance. • Lead governance and operation of AWS environment, including IAM, infrastructure-as-code, security, and backup/DR. • Facilitate runbook-style system changes such as employee onboarding/offboarding and maintain resource inventories. • Operate observability platforms (Datadog, CloudWatch) and triage issues using automation and custom scripts. • Provide DevOps automation expertise, review, and guidance to development teams. • Champion cloud architecture best practices and maintain shared infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and developer tooling. • Build scripts, tools, and lightweight services to improve developer productivity. • Document and propagate cloud best practices; mentor junior Cloud Practice staff. • Recommend, estimate, and coordinate initiatives to enhance the organization’s cloud presence.

What You Bring
The position requires occasional onsite presence at the Richardson office, while most work can be performed remotely, with flexibility for evenings or weekends to support production systems. • Minimum 3 years of cloud engineering experience and 5 years in professional IT. • Hands‑on experience with AWS, cloud‑native architectures, and CI/CD automation. • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, or Node.js for tooling and infrastructure automation. • Strong understanding of cloud networking, backups, and recovery. • Preferred: knowledge of Git, advanced Bash/Node.js scripting, custom tooling development, database concepts, Active Directory, identity federation, AWS VPN, and developer portals. • Demonstrated analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills; self‑motivated and able to prioritize under pressure. • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent experience; certifications a plus.
