About the Role

The Lead will be responsible for developing and mentoring staff, including supervising hiring, training, performance appraisals, classification changes, salary adjustments, and disciplinary actions. By fostering a collaborative and innovative environment, the Lead will ensure a high‑performing team capable of delivering complex facilities master planning projects. Business development is a core component of the role; the Lead will identify and pursue new opportunities, particularly in the public sector such as municipalities, counties, state agencies, water districts, and higher education. Maintaining strong relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners will expand market presence and support the group’s client‑management strategies. Project management duties include overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of facilities master planning projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The Lead will work with Project Managers to meet budgets, schedules, client expectations, and FNI Quality Management System requirements, as well as forecast workload and maintain appropriate staffing levels. Strategic planning responsibilities involve developing long‑term facilities master plans aligned with organizational goals, supporting the Group Manager in creating the annual operating plan, and preparing budget updates and analyses of improvement areas. • Lead, mentor, and develop a high‑performing facilities planning team. • Perform supervisory functions including staffing, training, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions. • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the public sector (municipalities, counties, state agencies, water districts, higher education). • Build and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and industry partners; support client management and pipeline activities. • Oversee planning, execution, and delivery of facilities master planning projects on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards. • Ensure compliance with regulations, codes, and FNI Quality Management System requirements. • Forecast workload, maintain staffing levels, and manage team overhead expenses. • Develop long‑term facilities master plans aligned with organizational goals and prepare annual operating and budget plans.

Freese and Nichols is seeking a dynamic and experienced Facilities Master Planning Lead to join our team. While we prefer candidates based at our corporate headquarters in Fort Worth, Texas, we are open to considering applicants from any of our locations. This role is pivotal in shaping the future of our practice, driving business growth, and fostering a culture of excellence. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Planning, Facilities Management, or a related field, a valid Texas architectural license or AICP certification, and at least ten years of experience in facilities master planning, business development, and project management. Strong leadership, client service, sales, technical delivery, communication, and proficiency with project‑management tools are also essential. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Planning, Facilities Management or related field; Texas architectural license or AICP certification preferred. • Minimum 10 + years experience in facilities master planning, business development, and project management. • Demonstrated leadership, client service, sales, and technical delivery expertise. • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and project‑management software skills.
