About the Role
The role focuses on onboarding, developing, coaching, mentoring, and managing the performance of drivers and helpers. It requires building positive relationships with front‑line employees and spending most of the day in the field alongside them. Key responsibilities include ensuring new employees receive the tools, instructions, and feedback they need, providing daily communication and support, and regularly reviewing best practices to boost performance. The position also emphasizes safety leadership, career‑goal development, and conducting root‑cause investigations for incidents. • Equip new frontline employees with necessary tools, clear instructions, and timely feedback. • Conduct daily check‑ins with new hires to ensure consistent onboarding communication. • Maintain regular touchpoints with all frontline staff to support ongoing performance. • Review and share best practices to continuously improve daily operations. • Assist employees in setting and progressing toward their career goals. • Identify performance gaps and collaborate with staff to implement improvement plans. • Practice and solicit feedback on coaching conversations to refine techniques. • Model and enforce safety protocols, ensuring they are a top priority for every employee. • Teach and reinforce the WM Way principles throughout the workforce. • Lead root‑cause investigations for injuries and incidents, applying consistent discipline and retraining. • Document and maintain records required by regulatory bodies such as the DOT. • Audit daily route operation documents (e.g., DVIRs, time/attendance, open tickets) and follow up as needed. • Visit customer sites to assess and resolve safety issues, exploring alternative service solutions. • Participate in a stock purchase plan and receive company‑matched 401(k) contributions.

What You Bring
The position may require a REAL ID or TSA‑approved alternative for air travel or access to federal property, and candidates must be willing to obtain one if necessary. • Possess an associate’s degree (accredited) or a high school diploma with two years of relevant experience. • Be at least 18 years old, legally eligible to work in the hiring country, and hold a valid driver’s license. • Preferably have completed the WM Operations Manager Trainee program.

The job operates in a hybrid office and field environment, requiring standard office equipment and occasional travel. The on‑site salary range is $74,580 to $95,150, with additional discretionary time off, up to 80 hours of paid sick time, and seven paid holidays each year, plus up to four weeks of paid leave in a rolling 12‑month period.
