About the Role
The Associate Service Technician assists in servicing, troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling marine defense vessel engines and propulsion systems, including their electronic components. The role requires safe, organized work adhering to safety guidelines, analyzing technical data, planning scope, and ensuring deadlines are met. Technicians must prepare parts and tools, maintain clean work areas, commission and operate engines, and document detailed reports and logs. Collaboration with product groups for design improvements and providing technical assistance to other service personnel are also essential. • Service, troubleshoot, repair, and overhaul marine engines and propulsion electronics. • Follow safety protocols and keep the work area clean and organized. • Analyze data, assess scope, and plan work to meet deadlines. • Prepare and requisition required parts, tools, and equipment. • Commission, operate, and record performance of engines and propulsion systems. • Document detailed reports and maintain daily activity and MTU logs. • Provide customer instruction, demonstrations, and technical support to service staff. • Work with product groups on design improvements and service manual updates. • Promote compliance with Rolls‑Royce Code of Conduct and safety culture.

What You Bring
Candidates must be U.S. citizens authorized to work without sponsorship, with at least two years of mechanical trade education or field service experience. The position demands frequent domestic and international travel, physical ability to lift 20‑60 lb, and proficiency with mechanical, electrical, and testing tools. Preferred qualifications include strong knowledge of internal combustion engines, engine instrumentation, technical terminology, and experience with MTU engines, diesel component testing, forklift operation, and rigging. Effective communication, organization, and PC proficiency are also required. • Must be a U.S. citizen authorized to work without sponsorship. • Minimum two years of mechanical trade education or field service experience. • Ability to travel internationally on short notice (70‑100% travel). • Physically capable of lifting, pushing, or pulling 20‑60 lb. • Knowledge of internal combustion engines and electronic engine controls. • Proficient with mechanical, electrical, measurement, and testing tools. • Experience with MTU engines, diesel testing, forklift operation, and rigging up to 1 ton. • Strong oral/written communication, organization, and time‑management skills. • Proficient in PC and MS Office Suite.
