About the Role
In this role you will translate smart‑city solution requirements into functional specifications, align platforms, applications and field‑level connectivity, and identify optimal locations for sensors, gateways and edge devices. You will coordinate, review and validate ICT designs, ensuring compliance with GCC telecom regulations and securing connectivity approvals from licensed operators. You will act as a trusted systems advisor, leading technical workshops, design reviews and stakeholder alignment sessions while providing clear guidance to non‑technical decision‑makers. You will define connectivity requirements for use cases such as IoT sensors, surveillance, mobility, utilities, environment and public safety, and review network designs covering fiber, wireless and IoT technologies. What You Bring
Parsons is seeking a talented Smart City Systems Specialist to join our Dubai team. You will work within a multi‑disciplinary group delivering technical designs and integrating smart city systems and digital infrastructure across urban environments. The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering or a related field and has more than five years of experience in systems engineering, ICT, communication networks or smart‑city projects. Proven experience supporting digital infrastructure or IoT initiatives and a solid understanding of ICT concepts, architectures and standards are required. Specialized expertise in areas such as fiber‑optic networks, LTE/5G, Wi‑Fi, LoRaWAN, NB‑IoT, cellular IoT or cybersecurity is highly desirable, as is experience on government or city authority projects within the GCC. Familiarity with network security, resilience, availability and GCC telecom regulations will further strengthen your candidacy. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in IT, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, or related field. • Possess 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, ICT, communication networks, or smart‑city projects. • Demonstrated experience with digital infrastructure or IoT‑based projects and solid understanding of ICT concepts and standards. • Specialized expertise in fiber‑optic, LTE/5G, Wi‑Fi, LoRaWAN, NB‑IoT, cellular IoT, or cybersecurity (desired). • Experience on government or city authority projects within the GCC (desired). • Familiarity with GCC telecom regulations and ICT compliance requirements (desired).
