About the Role
The role is accountable for implementing station technical programs such as dosimetry, instrumentation, respiratory programs, self‑assessments, and procedure implementation, ensuring they remain current with regulatory and technical requirements. Key duties include tracking radiation protection metrics, benchmarking programs, performing technical calculations, implementing corrective actions, delivering training, representing Radiation Protection in meetings, conducting field observations, and supporting emergency response and outage activities. • Implement and maintain radiation protection programs (dosimetry, instrumentation, respiratory, self‑assessments, procedures) in line with regulatory standards. • Track and analyze radiation protection metrics, generate corrective actions, and benchmark against industry best practices. • Perform technical calculations for exposure assessments, isotopic mix trending, whole‑body counts, and emergency plume dispersion. • Conduct field observations, ensure performance standards, and provide training to improve departmental performance. • Represent Radiation Protection in meetings with Nuclear Oversight and regulators, and support emergency response and outage activities.

What You Bring
Minimum qualifications for the Rad Pro Technical Specialist include a bachelor’s degree in health physics or a related science with at least one year of experience, or equivalent combinations of education, senior reactor operator license, or relevant experience; all candidates must meet access and medical requirements. Senior‑level candidates must have a bachelor’s degree with four years of applied radiation protection experience or equivalent qualifications, and also meet access and medical requirements. Preferred qualifications include successful completion of the National Registry Radiation Protection Technicians (NRRPT) or Certified Health Physicist (CHP) certification. • Minimum qualifications: bachelor’s (or associate’s/high school) in health physics or related field with relevant experience, or senior reactor operator license; must meet access and medical requirements. • Senior‑level qualifications: bachelor’s with 4+ years of applied radiation protection experience (or equivalent), plus access and medical clearance. • Preferred certifications: NRRPT or Certified Health Physicist (CHP).
