About the Role
• Develop cost estimates for transportation projects in line with FDOT guidelines within a multidisciplinary team. • Review and analyze design plans for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with current standards. • Conduct thorough reviews of Long‑Range Estimates (LREs) for project planning and budgeting. • Support preparation of contractor bid documents ensuring estimates reflect realistic market conditions. • Coordinate with design teams, project managers, and stakeholders to align estimates with scopes and schedules. • Provide technical advice on constructability, logistics, phasing, and alternatives to team members and clients. • Utilize company and industry historical data for costing estimates. • Evaluate and report on the sufficiency of third‑party estimates. • Assess current and projected economic impacts on projects.

What You Bring
At GFT we combine engineering innovation with rigorous construction and program management, emphasizing excellence, safety, sustainability, and delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and to high quality standards. • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field. • Minimum 5 years of roadway/highway design and cost estimating experience, preferably on FDOT projects. • Proficiency with FDOT estimation tools (e.g., Estimator, LRE system) and familiarity with the Design Manual and Basis of Estimates. • Strong analytical and communication skills for cost evaluations and recommendations. • At least 10 years of overall estimating experience in construction management or general construction. • Experience in heavy construction including sitework, deep foundations, excavation supports, utilities, concrete, and steel construction. • Mechanical and/or electrical estimating experience is a plus. • Willingness to travel occasionally to project sites. • Expertise with MS Office (Word, Excel, Project) and Bluebeam, spreadsheets, Sage estimating software.
