About the Role

During training, the trainee will learn to conduct complete pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspections, report safety issues, operate a heavy commercial truck along designated routes, load and unload refuse, operate the compactor, and identify unsatisfactory waste containers. The trainee will also monitor vehicle condition, clean equipment after each disposal trip, and follow all safety policies. • Perform pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspections and report safety issues. • Safely operate a commercial truck, follow route sheets, load/unload refuse, and operate the compactor. • Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers; monitor waste quality. • Maintain vehicle readiness by cleaning equipment and minimizing downtime. • After licensing, fulfill full driver duties across residential, commercial, industrial or roll‑off routes.

What You Bring

Republic Services is hiring a Driver Trainee who will be trained to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL). Upon successful completion of the training program, the trainee will transition to a full‑time Driver position in one of the company’s business lines, such as Residential, Commercial, Industrial or Roll‑Off. • Pass the state CDL examination and remain employed for 12 months post‑licensing. • Meet the minimum requirement of no prohibitions to obtaining a CDL.
