About the Role
The engineer will contribute to engineering design for a variety of roadway drainage and design‑build initiatives throughout the Southeast, supporting bridge hydraulics, culvert sizing, closed‑system layouts, and post‑construction water‑quality measures. Responsibilities also include preparing construction documentation, cost estimates, and technical reports while collaborating with project managers, ecologists, and roadway engineers. • Design roadway drainage and design‑build projects such as collector streets, arterials, expressways, interstates, and bridge replacements across the Southeast. • Perform bridge hydraulic studies, culvert design, closed drainage system layouts, post‑construction water‑quality structures, and erosion‑sedimentation control. • Prepare construction plans, project displays, cost estimates, reports, and technical memos. • Utilize software tools including OpenRoads, HEC‑RAS, GIS, FlowMaster, StormCAD, SMS, SRH2D, and Excel for design and documentation. • Coordinate with project managers, ecologists, and roadway engineers.

What You Bring
Candidates must have at least two years of drainage design experience, a bachelor’s degree in engineering, and preferably an EIT certification. Desired attributes include familiarity with NCDOT projects, FEMA floodplain rules, stormwater BMPs for transportation corridors, and strong communication and teamwork skills. • Require a minimum of 2 years drainage design experience and a bachelor’s degree in engineering; EIT preferred. • Prefer experience with NCDOT projects and knowledge of FEMA floodplain regulations and stormwater BMPs for transportation. • Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication, teamwork, and willingness to conduct field work.
