About the Role
As a Diesel Mechanic you will diagnose and repair a wide range of diesel and, in some locations, CNG equipment, using modern tools and procedures to keep trucks that serve over 20 million customers on the road. The role includes performing safety checks, responding to emergency breakdowns, and maintaining clean, compliant work areas. • Work in a repair/maintenance shop at the Chicago, IL hauling site • Inspect, diagnose, and repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems • Estimate time and material costs for repairs and new parts • Perform work within Standard Labor Repair Times (SRTs) • Respond to service calls for emergency breakdowns • Conduct safety checks on vehicles • Complete paperwork documenting parts usage and repair times • Assist senior mechanics with project work • Review and address repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports • Maintain a clean, safe work area complying with corporate and OSHA standards
