About the Role

The engineer will perform field service operations that address both routine and unusual problems, supervise electricians and contractors, and carry out preventive and corrective maintenance on high‑voltage substation equipment. Responsibilities include conducting and documenting field tests such as electrical testing, SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, and power‑factor measurements, as well as compiling data to diagnose and resolve equipment issues. • Plan, execute, and lead field assignments for installation, modification, testing, commissioning, or repair of 69 kV‑550 kV equipment. • Supervise electricians and contractors hired by Hitachi Energy or the customer. • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and conduct field tests (electrical, SF6 leak detection, gas analysis, timing, power factor, contact resistance). • Compile and evaluate test data, develop recommendations, and prepare written reports while maintaining detailed logs. • Recommend equipment upgrades or procedural changes to enhance performance and customer satisfaction.

What You Bring

Candidates must hold a technical certificate in an electrical or mechanical discipline and possess at least five years of experience with high‑voltage substations or comparable military assignments. A bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering is preferred, along with proven leadership experience, the ability to read electrical schematics, and familiarity with test instruments like CB timers, megger, and CT testers. Applicants must have valid work authorization for the United States. • Travel up to 80 % and adhere to safety policies in varied field environments. • Technical certificate in electrical/mechanical field with 5+ years of high‑voltage substation experience (>69 kV). • Preferable bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering. • Proven leadership coordinating and leading crews on electrical projects. • Ability to read electrical drawings and operate test equipment (CB timers, megger, CT testers, etc.).
