About the Role

The Marine Emergency Response Technician performs operational functions related to emergency response hazardous and non‑hazardous spill clean‑up projects in a safe, efficient manner and in compliance with all applicable regulations. The role includes day‑to‑day marine service work such as pre‑booming, AMPD services, line‑handling, preventative maintenance, basic equipment repair, training and spill response exercises. Health and safety are the top priority, with the Technician following all policies, processes, and safe‑work practices. The position assists the team on labor‑intensive marine and land tasks in harsh environments and varying weather conditions, and deploys and operates light and heavy equipment such as workboats, skimmers, pumps, blowers, marine/mobile cranes, and vacuum transfer systems. Responsibilities also include loading and unloading equipment, attaching and deploying booms and anchors, applying basic seamanship and marine safety principles, completing required paperwork, and maintaining inventory, equipment, and work areas. • Prioritize health and safety by following all policies and safe‑work practices. • Perform labor‑intensive marine and land tasks in diverse weather and harsh environments. • Deploy and operate light and heavy equipment such as workboats, skimmers, pumps, blowers, cranes, and vacuum transfer systems. • Load, unload, attach, and deploy booms, anchors, and related marine hardware. • Maintain vessel logs, placards, DOT inspections, and complete required paperwork. • Conduct inventory, maintenance, and clean‑up of boats, equipment, and work areas. • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and use hand/shop tools and welding procedures.

What You Bring

Preferred qualifications include knowledge of gasoline and diesel marine engines, outboard motors, hydraulic power units, oil skimming systems, and the ability to diagnose common malfunctions. Candidates should be skilled with hand and shop tools, have welding knowledge, demonstrate accuracy and attention to detail, and be able to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple diverse responsibilities. Minimum qualifications require a current 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification (or the ability to obtain it after hire) and at least two years of related experience. • Knowledge of gasoline/diesel marine engines, outboard motors, hydraulic power units, and oil skimming systems. • Current 40‑hour HAZWOPER certification (or ability to obtain) and at least two years of relevant experience.
