About the Role

The Transmission Line Engineer will provide design, engineering, technical support, and oversight to a transmission engineering team, delivering safe, cost-effective, and high-quality services. The role includes leading discipline work on projects, handling charge engineering duties, and managing project schedules and budgets, as well as supporting proposal development and cost estimating. Working with minimal supervision, the engineer will apply technical expertise to identify, analyze, and resolve complex transmission problems, including renewable energy interconnections and grid modernization. Responsibilities include planning, organizing, estimating, scheduling, and monitoring work activities, producing thorough technical reports and documentation, and continuously improving engineering knowledge and performance. • Provide transmission line design, engineering, and technical support for power delivery and renewable interconnections. • Lead discipline work, oversee project team, and ensure deliverables meet schedule and budget constraints. • Produce accurate technical reports, calculations, drawings, and documentation. • Develop and maintain client relationships; interact daily with customer engineers and technical personnel. • Plan, estimate, schedule, and monitor work activities to ensure efficient project execution. • Review and verify right‑of‑way, sag/tension, and construction documents; prepare detailed bill of materials and specification packages. • Apply industry standards (NESC, ASCE, IEC, IEEE) and use PLSCADD, PLSPOLE, and PLSTOWER for line, pole, and tower design. • Mentor junior designers/drafters and coordinate with other design disciplines, contractors, and suppliers. • Support proposal development, cost estimating, and contract review for new projects.

What You Bring

The position requires strong communication skills, the ability to create and interpret transmission line drawing packages, and the capacity to develop and maintain professional relationships with customers while monitoring deliverables and presenting solutions. Although there are no direct reports, the engineer will oversee the project team in preparing design drawings and may mentor junior staff. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree in an ABET‑accredited engineering program, a professional engineering (PE) license, and eight to ten years of experience in electrical power delivery or transmission line design. Desired qualifications include expertise in high‑voltage (≥69 kV) transmission design, familiarity with industry standards such as NESC, ASCE, IEC, and proficiency with design tools like PLSCADD, PLSPOLE, and PLSTOWER. • Hold a PE license, 8–10 years of transmission line design experience, and an ABET‑accredited engineering degree. • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication, problem‑solving, and independent work abilities.
