About the Role

Under general supervision, the engineer will collect, compile, and analyze data from physical work sites, surveys, GIS, subsurface utilities, maps, and geotechnical studies to support project development, design, and construction. They will also conduct research and inspections of proposed and existing site conditions to ensure compliance with applicable rules, standards, and permits, while performing routine engineering functions and providing entry‑level technical assistance. The position involves generating accurate documentation using electronic systems, drawings, and field logs, and adhering to safety guidelines, site‑specific procedures, and WSP’s Code of Conduct. Additional responsibilities may include training on assigned tasks and supporting business needs as required. • Collect, compile, and analyze site, survey, GIS, and geotechnical data for transmission line projects. • Conduct research and inspections of existing and proposed site conditions to ensure regulatory compliance. • Perform routine civil engineering tasks and provide technical assistance on design and construction issues. • Produce accurate documentation, drawings, and field logs using electronic systems. • Follow safety guidelines, site procedures, and WSP’s Code of Conduct. • Participate in design of new transmission lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber‑optic additions. • Maintain workplace safety and adhere to health, safety, and harassment policies.

WSP is seeking an Intermediate Professional Civil Engineer specializing in Transmission Lines for its Fort Lauderdale, Florida office. The role will be part of the Power Delivery Overhead Transmission Line Team, contributing to projects that meet client objectives and solve challenges. The successful candidate will engage in all aspects of transmission line design, including new lines, relocations, upgrades, and fiber‑optic additions. Required qualifications include a Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (or related field), 1‑3 years of relevant experience, a minimum 2.75 GPA, strong research and analytical skills, and familiarity with design/build processes and civil construction codes. Candidates must possess effective interpersonal and communication abilities, self‑leadership, attention to detail, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and basic technical writing. They should demonstrate a track record of workplace safety, flexibility to work beyond typical hours, and willingness to travel occasionally as project demands dictate. Preferred qualifications include an Engineering in Training certification, coursework in structural analysis, concrete and steel design, soil mechanics, foundation design, and surveying, as well as prior civil or structural engineering design or drafting experience.
