About the Role
Project responsibilities include applying mechanical engineering principles, analyzing data, developing proposals, directing task teams, planning and coordinating detailed engineering work, and presenting components at meetings. Work is performed in AutoCAD (and Revit) within budget and schedule constraints, with field investigations as needed, and includes preparing project plans, specifications, and accurate engineering calculations. • Apply mechanical engineering principles to design projects. • Analyze and interpret data to solve engineering problems. • Assist in developing proposals for professional services. • Provide direction to engineers, technicians, and administrative staff on assigned tasks. • Plan and coordinate detailed engineering work and prepare project plans and specifications. • Attend meetings and present specific assignment components. • Create detailed drawings and system specifications using AutoCAD and Revit within budget and schedule. • Conduct field investigations and site visits as required. • Perform engineering calculations with accuracy for designs, specifications, and drawings. • Establish design concepts, criteria, scope, and space requirements.

What You Bring
Colliers Engineering & Design is looking for an experienced Project Mechanical Engineer to join its Commercial Science, Technology and Innovation practice in Albany, NY. The role independently handles design assignments, preparing detailed drawings and system specifications, coordinating design efforts, and contributing to project meetings. It also offers opportunities for field work, technical projects, and client interaction, supporting the Engineer of Record with strong design fundamentals for the buildings division. Candidates must have 4‑6+ years of mechanical design experience, a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering, and preferably a PE license. Required skills include advanced Revit and CAD proficiency, knowledge of ISA P&ID development, ability to perform QA/QC on drawings, and strong analytical, written, and verbal communication abilities. Experience with internal piping processes, commercial/industrial structures, and mentoring staff is a plus, and a valid driver’s license is preferred. • 4–6+ years of mechanical engineering design experience. • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; PE license preferred. • Advanced proficiency in Revit and CAD software. • Knowledge of ISA P&ID development and evaluation. • Ability to conduct QA/QC on project drawings. • Strong analytical, investigative, and research skills. • Excellent technical and non‑technical writing, editing, and proofreading abilities. • Effective verbal and written communication skills. • Capability to mentor and develop design staff. • Valid driver’s license preferred.
