About the Role
The Mechatronics & Robotics Technician supports the Operations Maintenance team by installing, maintaining and repairing material handling and pneumatic systems throughout the building. The role includes work on automated packaging and distribution equipment and offers the chance to mentor junior technicians. Responsibilities are performed on‑site in Ankeny, IA, with up to 20 % travel. Shifts can last up to 12 hours and may require flexible scheduling, including nights, weekends or holidays. Daily tasks involve promoting a safe work environment, completing preventive‑maintenance routines with proper documentation, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues on MHE such as belts, motors, photo‑eyes and relays. The technician tracks inventory, moves up to 49 lb, and maintains positive relationships across the operations facility. Physical demands include repetitive bending, lifting parts averaging 20 lb (occasionally up to 49 lb), and standing or walking on concrete for long periods. Work conditions may include small spaces, dust, fumes, temperature extremes, noise, vibration and occasional heights. • Repair belts, motors, photo‑eyes, relays and other material handling equipment components. • Install, maintain and service automated packaging and distribution equipment. • Mentor junior technicians to develop their technical skills. • Follow all safety procedures and promote a safe work environment. • Track and manage department inventory using a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS). • Complete preventative maintenance routines with proper documentation. • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues on pneumatic and conveyor systems.

What You Bring
Required qualifications are a high‑school diploma or equivalent, 2 + years repairing material handling equipment, and experience with predictive and preventive maintenance. Preferred qualifications include an associate’s or higher degree in mechanical or electrical fields, experience with automated conveyor systems, blueprint and schematic reading, and familiarity with CMMS and robotic/electromechanical maintenance. Knowledge of MHE safety standards and basic input‑output troubleshooting is also desired. Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship. • Travel up to 20 % to support multiple locations as needed. • Meet physical requirements: lift up to 49 lb, stand/walk 10+ hours, work in confined or dusty spaces. • Hold a high school diploma or equivalent and 2 + years experience repairing material handling equipment. • Preferred: associate degree in mechanical/electrical, blueprint reading, CMMS, robotic/electromechanical maintenance.
