Lead project management for large power generation projects in Meridian, ID
Job Highlights
About the Role
The position provides situational administrative and technical project‑management guidance for the development, execution, management, and monitoring of designated power‑generation projects within a specific geography or discipline. It ensures that responsibilities throughout the project lifecycle—from proposal phase through planning, execution, reporting, and close‑out—are adhered to, delivered, and audited to meet or exceed corporate excellence standards. The role also delivers innovation, administration, and pragmatic direction to address current and future project‑management challenges in a rapidly changing business environment. In this role you will provide project‑management leadership for larger‑scale, complex power‑generation projects, ensuring contributors understand their tasks and deadlines, while preparing and overseeing budgets, forecasts, margins and key performance indicators. You will monitor external events, risk contingencies, track hours and expenses, ensure satisfactory performance, and manage contractual obligations to deliver the assigned portfolio. You will develop and foster effective strategies to engage stakeholders at all levels, maintain strong relationships, and report on project progress. You will guide pursuit and initiation activities, including go/no‑go decisions, contract reviews, risk‑mitigation strategies, and pricing reviews for projects that meet defined criteria. The role involves participating in the technical aspects of contract negotiation, presentations, and meetings, and driving the appropriate level of technical review by selecting qualified staff and ensuring adherence to QA/QC plans. You will provide verbal and written inputs to multidisciplinary teams, offer strategic advice to clients, and mentor staff to support their growth. You will manage performance guidance for assigned staff and keep system and process documentation—such as risk, project‑management, quality, safety and communications plans—up to date. Facilitating project kick‑off meetings with key stakeholders and coordinating with area or technical managers to address resource and subcontracting needs in a timely manner are essential duties. Regular communication with the client, including monthly status reports, safety incidents, major issues, and scope or budget impacts, will be maintained. You will oversee problem‑project reviews, contribute root‑cause analysis, and help develop recovery plans. Monitoring accounts receivable and unbilled revenue, as well as providing regular updates to clients, technical areas, and business‑unit managers, is required. Formal project close‑out activities, including a lessons‑learned meeting with key staff, will be completed, and you will stay current on the latest project‑management techniques. Collaboration with professionals from various disciplines will be used to provide trusted‑advisor services, while adhering to WSP’s Code of Conduct and ethical decision‑making. • Lead large, complex thermal power generation projects, overseeing budgets, forecasts, KPIs, and contractual obligations. • Develop stakeholder engagement strategies and report project progress to clients and senior management. • Drive project initiation activities, including go/no‑go decisions, risk mitigation, pricing and contract reviews. • Conduct technical reviews, select qualified staff, and ensure compliance with QA/QC plans. • Mentor and manage project team members, updating risk, project management, quality, safety and communications plans. • Facilitate project kick‑offs, coordinate resources and subcontractors, and maintain regular client communications. • Oversee problem reviews, root‑cause analysis, and develop recovery plans; monitor accounts receivable and unbilled revenue. • Execute formal project closeout and lessons‑learned sessions; stay current with PM best practices.
