About the Role
The Modeler develops, updates, and maintains discipline-specific 3D models, primarily electrical, using contract documents, detailing inputs, and field markups. Working under the VDC/BIM Coordinator and Manager, the role ensures models meet company BIM standards, are clean for export, and support prefabrication and field installation. Collaboration is essential: the Modeler works with coordinators, detailers, engineers, and field teams to resolve clashes, flag constructability concerns, and align digital models with construction goals. Technical support includes troubleshooting modeling issues and guiding team members on BIM software and best practices. • Develop and maintain discipline-specific 3D models using contract documents and field markups. • Update models for design changes, RFIs, and coordination feedback, ensuring accuracy and clean exports. • Apply company BIM standards, templates, naming conventions, and follow project BIM Execution Plans. • Perform quality checks and support clash detection, escalating constructability issues to the BIM Coordinator. • Generate installation drawings, prefabrication sheets, and dimensioned views to aid construction and fabrication. • Coordinate with manufacturing to verify that modeled elements meet prefab requirements. • Troubleshoot modeling issues and provide BIM software guidance to team members.

What You Bring
Compensation is based on knowledge, experience, and skill level, and work is performed in an office setting with occasional travel to other locations. The position reports to the VDC BIM Coordinator within the VDC Department and requires at least two years of modeling experience, proficiency in Revit, basic Navisworks exposure, and knowledge of prefab workflows. • Certificate or equivalent experience in modeling technologies and/or electrical field work. • Minimum 2+ years of BIM modeling experience, proficient in Revit with exposure to Navisworks/ACC. • Basic understanding of prefab workflows, constructability, and clash detection. • Ability to follow BIM standards, produce accurate model data, and collaborate with coordinators and detailers. • Physical ability to sit at a desk for long periods, lift up to 35 lb occasionally, and perform visual and manual tasks.
