About the Role

The Property Accountant will collect, analyze, verify, and report information related to the Company’s and its subsidiaries’ property, plant and equipment, including software prepaids. This role works closely with the Divisional Controller, property accounting team members, and other departments to deliver timely, accurate, and relevant financial reporting information. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the accounting department to achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting objectives, understanding capital projects and budgets, and creating journal entries for each close. The accountant will reconcile general‑ledger accounts tied to capital assets, review transactions for correct coding, and maintain comprehensive documentation while upholding strong internal controls. Critical tasks involve prioritizing workload to meet deadlines, analyzing financial reports for tax return preparation, computing taxes, and coordinating audits with state and federal authorities. The role also monitors internal controls, stays current on tax software, and supplies accurate accounting data to management. Important duties emphasize a detail‑oriented, organized approach, teamwork, and assistance with ACA reporting and SOX certifications as needed. The accountant advises staff on accounting policies, communicates with customers, vendors, and control agencies, and ensures timely completion of the monthly accounting cycle. • Collaborate with the accounting team to meet monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting deadlines. • Create and post journal entries for monthly and quarterly close processes. • Reconcile general ledger accounts related to capital assets. • Review and correct general ledger transactions for accurate coding. • Maintain comprehensive files and records documenting property, plant, and equipment transactions. • Ensure robust internal controls over financial reporting processes. • Assist with audit preparation and provide required workpapers. • Provide backup support for the Cash Application clerk and other Property Accountants. • Prioritize workload to meet deadlines and analyze financial reports for tax preparation. • Compute taxes using appropriate software and tax tables. • Coordinate audits with state and federal tax authorities. • Review depreciation methods and tax lives for fixed assets. • Advise the Tax Manager on income tax issues. • Monitor internal controls, separation of duties, and departmental audits. • Stay current on income tax software functionalities. • Provide accurate accounting and fiscal data to management and programs. • Assist with ACA reporting and SOX certifications as needed. • Advise staff on accounting policies, procedures, and resolve issues. • Communicate effectively with customers, vendors, staff, and control agencies. • Ensure timely completion of tasks for the monthly accounting cycle.

What You Bring

The position requires at least a BA or BS degree, with a CPA designation preferred.
