About the Role

The Mobile Building Engineer is responsible for ensuring efficient operations and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems for the assigned facility. This role aims to maximize system life and reliability and often serves as the sole on‑site engineer, with occasional supervision of maintenance staff depending on the building’s size and complexity. Operating as a mobile role, the engineer services multiple buildings throughout the Cary, NC area. Core duties include daily operation and maintenance of building systems, supervising staff when needed, performing preventive maintenance tasks, developing and improving maintenance procedures, coordinating with external contractors, managing inventory, responding to emergencies, complying with all codes and safety directives, and providing monthly operational reports to management. • Perform daily operation and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems across multiple Cary, NC buildings. • Supervise and assign tasks to maintenance staff when applicable. • Execute preventive maintenance (filter changes, motor lubrication, lamp replacement, bearing repairs, shaft alignment, etc.). • Develop and update building‑specific maintenance procedures and improve preventive programs. • Coordinate maintenance activities with external contractors and manage inventory control. • Respond immediately to emergencies such as fires, evacuations, or equipment failures. • Ensure compliance with all codes, regulations, and company safety directives; complete annual C&W safety training. • Prepare and submit monthly building operation reports to management.

What You Bring

Required education is a high school diploma or GED, with a trade school apprenticeship preferred, and at least five years of related commercial trade experience. Candidates must hold appropriate trade licenses (e.g., Journeyman or Master Electrician, Steam Engineer), an EPA Section 608 certification for refrigerants, a valid driver’s license, basic computing skills, and a solid background in HVAC, boilers, pumps, and energy management systems. Shift work, on‑call duties, and occasional extended periods without relief may be required. The work environment combines a professional office setting with regular travel between properties in varying weather conditions. Physical demands include the ability to stoop, stand, climb, lift a minimum of 50 lb, crouch, and reach while installing or moving equipment, as well as clear verbal communication and the ability to read schematics and written instructions. • Maintain required trade licenses (Journeyman/Electrician, Steam Engineer, etc.) and EPA Section 608 refrigeration certification. • Possess 5+ years of commercial mechanical/electrical/plumbing trade experience and basic Outlook, Excel, Word skills. • Hold a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. • Ability to lift ≥50 lb, climb, stoop, crouch, and work shifts or on‑call as needed.
