About the Role

The Assistant Controller will support a business unit generating over $500 million in annual revenue, reporting to the finance leadership team and supervising accounting staff. The role combines oversight of accounting operations, financial reporting, cash management, internal controls, and audit coordination. • Lead accounting and controllership functions, building a high‑performing finance team. • Direct the monthly close for construction operations and ensure GAAP‑compliant financial statements. • Prepare variance analyses and management commentary to explain financial performance. • Manage cash forecasting, collections, disbursements and banking relationships. • Maintain a strong internal control environment, ensuring SOX and public company compliance. • Serve as primary liaison with external auditors for quarterly and annual audits. • Drive finance‑process automation, optimization, and productivity improvements. • Apply technical accounting expertise in revenue recognition, change orders, and claims. • Provide executive‑level insights and actionable recommendations to improve business outcomes. • Lead special projects and ad‑hoc initiatives as needed. • Operate independently, proactively taking initiative and managing competing priorities. • Apply critical‑thinking to generate accurate reports and translate data into actionable insights.

What You Bring

This position requires on‑site work Monday through Friday and is open only to direct applicants; staffing agency candidates will not be considered. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship. • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Finance or Accounting; CPA preferred. • Possess 10+ years of progressive accounting/finance management experience in construction. • Demonstrate strong Excel skills and familiarity with JD Edwards, Hyperion, and Essbase. • Exhibit hands‑on, strategic and tactical leadership in a fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. • Communicate effectively at all organizational levels, both orally and in writing. • Show meticulous attention to detail while delegating to achieve high‑quality results.
