Graduate Student Intern – Data Science & Remote Sensing
Develop and apply deep learning models for remote sensing geospatial data.
Job Highlights
About the Role
The intern will work at the intersection of satellite remote sensing and AI‑driven analytics, collaborating with domain experts in remote‑sensing physics while focusing on advanced machine‑learning techniques for geospatial applications. The role involves designing and implementing deep‑learning models, including custom convolutional neural networks and physics‑informed loss functions, and applying preprocessing methods to radiometrically calibrate geospatial datasets. • Develop custom CNN architectures for domain adaptation of satellite and UAV imagery. • Implement physics‑informed loss functions and leverage automatic differentiation in PyTorch or TensorFlow. • Preprocess geospatial datasets, including radiometric calibration and conversion of digital numbers to TOA reflectance. • Collaborate with remote‑sensing scientists to integrate domain constraints into AI models. • Write scientific code in Python (and optionally C++) for high‑performance computing tasks. • Apply linear algebra, calculus, and optimization techniques to model development. • Conduct independent research while contributing to multidisciplinary team efforts. • Maintain eligibility for a government security credential by meeting a three‑year U.S. residency requirement and passing background checks.
