About the Role
The R&D CAD Automation Developer II assists in developing 2D drafting and design tools to improve engineering efficiency, supports conceptual and preliminary models for product development, and collaborates closely with engineering and other teams to understand project requirements. The role also optimizes processes to enhance performance, productivity, and user experience, maintains existing engineering records and designs, and conducts testing and debugging of automation scripts and tools. Coordination with engineers, management, and creative departments determines design solutions, and the developer aids communication with design/drafting teams to maintain standards. Travel to other AAON plants may be required for product development, and other duties may be assigned as needed. • Develop and improve 2D drafting/design tools for engineering efficiency. • Create conceptual and preliminary models/drawings for product development. • Collaborate with engineering, management, and creative teams to define design solutions. • Optimize processes to boost performance, productivity, and user experience. • Test, debug, and maintain automation scripts and engineering records. • Communicate with Design/Drafting teams to uphold standards. • Travel to other AAON plants as needed for product development. • Use Git or other distributed version control systems in team settings. • Manage multiple tasks and stay organized in fast‑paced environments.

What You Bring
A four-year degree in Computer Science or a related field, or four years of industry experience in a similar technical role, is required. Candidates should have experience using Python, VBA, C# or other programming languages, and familiarity with computer‑aided design tools such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks or SolidEdge is a plus. Proficiency with a distributed version control system, especially Git, in a team environment is also essential. Successful candidates demonstrate strong collaborative and interpersonal skills, effective written and verbal communication, and the ability to make sound decisions and solve analytical problems. They are adept at multitasking, organized, and can thrive in fast‑paced, high‑pressure team settings. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 50 lb and to sit or stand for up to 95 % of work hours.
