About the Role
The primary purpose of this position is to monitor, control, and operate nuclear station equipment from the control room, ensuring safe and efficient plant operations. The incumbent will work closely with shift supervision, fire brigade duties, and emergency response procedures. • Start, stop, and control nuclear reactor, auxiliary systems, steam turbine, and generators, taking manual control when needed. • Operate pumps, valves, switchgear, and other system components as directed. • Monitor control room indicators and recorders, perform required calculations, and maintain prescribed limits. • Respond to plant alarms and emergencies, initiating appropriate actions per procedures. • Conduct shift turnovers, maintain logs, and adhere to NRC licensing and administrative protocols. • Mitigate plant transients and follow emergency operating, abnormal event, and restoration procedures. • Serve as a station fire brigade member and fire brigade leader when required. • Assist shift supervision in coordinating personnel actions for station operation. • Identify and correct deficiencies via the Corrective Action program and submit procedure change requests. • Initiate the Emergency Plan according to implementation procedures. • Execute tagging and out‑of‑service requests, directing valve realignments and breaker rack‑outs. • Support reactor refueling by manipulating controls and monitoring radiation instruments. • Operate station communications equipment as needed.

What You Bring
Minimum qualifications require a high school diploma or GED plus relevant technical or nuclear experience, an engineering degree, or substantial post‑secondary coursework in math, physics, chemistry, or engineering technology. Candidates must pass the Plant Operator Selection System exam, the Basic Math and Science Test, and be eligible for unescorted access to a nuclear facility. • High school diploma or GED plus one of: 1 year technical experience in power/industrial operations, 2 years nuclear facility experience, BS/AS in engineering or related field, or 43 post‑secondary credit hours with heavy math/science coursework. • Pass Plant Operator Selection System (POSS) exam and Basic Math and Science Test (BMST). • Able to obtain unescorted access to a nuclear facility as a critical‑group member.
