About the Role

• Select pipe type and size and related materials (supports, hangers, hydraulic cylinders) per specifications. • Inspect worksite for obstructions. • Plan installation sequence to avoid obstructions and coordinate with other workers. • Cut pipe using hacksaw, pipe cutter, hammer and chisel, torch, or pipe cutting machine. • Thread pipe with a threading machine. • Bend pipe manually or with bending tools/machines. • Mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceilings. • Assemble and install metal or non‑metal pipes and fittings using threaded, caulked, soldered, brazed, fused, or cemented joints. • Secure pipes to structures with brackets, clamps, and hangers using hand and power tools. • Install and maintain refrigeration and air‑conditioning systems, including compressors, pumps, meters, pneumatic and hydraulic controls and piping. • Test piping for leaks by pressurizing and monitoring gauges. • Weld pipe supports to structural steel. • Observe production machines for malfunctions and operate them to verify repairs. • Load, transport, and unload materials, tools, equipment, and supplies. • Assist in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and work pieces during installation. • Perform minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment. • Use respiratory protection as required. • Observe and comply with all safety and project rules. • Work within precise limits to meet accuracy standards. • Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. • Plan work and select proper tools. • Compare and identify differences in size, shape, and form of components. • Visualize solid objects from drawings or diagrams. • Rate information using measurable standards. • Follow instructions and established guidelines to perform job functions.

What You Bring

Journeyman positions require typically three or more years of documented field experience in the selected craft discipline, with the ability to read and interpret instructions, and to document, plan, and perform work activities independently. The role involves laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining piping systems, pipe supports, fixtures, and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment for steam, hot water, heating, cooling, lubricating, sprinkling, and various production and processing systems. The position demands physical activity such as standing, walking, and sitting, as well as lifting and carrying loads up to 50 lb. Workers must frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, and use fine finger movements, with varying frequency throughout the workday. Candidates should have at least three years of journeyman experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and the ability to follow established guidelines while working under direct supervision. • May require a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant experience. • Possess knowledge of common concepts, practices, and procedures in the field.
