About the Role

Drivers operate heavy‑duty trucks equipped with front, side, or rear‑end load lift attachments, transporting waste or recyclables to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities once legal load capacity is reached. Commercial drivers handle container pick‑up services, often maneuvering 1,000‑plus‑pound wheeled containers, while residential drivers collect household waste and navigate tight residential environments. Roll‑off drivers prepare, load, and move large open‑top or compactor containers, working in industrial routes that may have tight overhead spaces. The role requires performing pre‑ and post‑trip vehicle inspections, completing Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports, and following Waste Management Safety, OSHA, DOT, and all applicable laws. Drivers must report unsafe conditions, incidents, or service interruptions to the Operations Manager or Dispatch, and communicate customer requests as needed. They are expected to follow assigned routes, dump receptacles cleanly, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist fellow drivers to meet customer needs. • Operate vehicles in compliance with WM Safety, OSHA, DOT regulations and all applicable laws. • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections and complete Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR). • Report unsafe situations, incidents, accidents, and service interruptions to Operations Manager or Dispatch promptly. • Communicate customer requests and route changes to Operations Manager or Dispatch. • Dump all receptacles cleanly, leaving customer locations free of debris. • Follow assigned routes, complete end‑of‑day documentation, and assist other drivers as needed.
