About the Role

The Driver Trainee position at Republic Services is designed to train individuals to obtain a commercial driver’s license (CDL) and transition them into full driver roles across various business lines such as Residential, Commercial, Industrial, or Roll‑Off. • Remain employed for 12 months after obtaining the CDL. • Perform pre‑ and post‑operation vehicle inspections to verify tire pressure, fluid levels, safety equipment, and controls. • Safely operate a commercial truck along assigned routes, read route sheets, and service customers as directed. • Operate manual/automatic controls to lift, load, compact, and dispose of waste at designated facilities. • Identify and tag unsatisfactory waste containers according to department procedures. • Continuously monitor waste for prohibited materials and report safety issues. • Keep assigned vehicle operationally ready by cleaning packer blade and truck body after each disposal trip. • Follow all required safety policies and procedures. • After CDL attainment, assume full driver duties in residential, commercial, industrial, or roll‑off services.

Trainees will enroll in a comprehensive CDL program that combines classroom instruction, on‑route training, and hands‑on experience using a loaned truck, after which they must pass the state CDL examination and remain employed for a full twelve months. Candidates must have no prohibitions to acquiring a CDL.
