About the Role
• Install fixtures such as curtains, blinds and door handles. • Support single and multi‑trade teams with manual handling tasks. • Carry out painting and decorating duties with attention to presentation. • Fix leaking waste pipes and perform minor plumbing repairs. • Replace light bulbs and test smoke alarms to maintain safety standards. • Assist with cleaning and waste collection duties, receiving training as needed. • Work collaboratively within the Repairs and Maintenance team. • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a professional attitude. • Make independent decisions and solve problems when required. • Uphold high standards of safety, quality and cost control.

What You Bring
Mears Group is looking for a skilled and dependable General Operative to join its Repairs and Maintenance team after an internal promotion. The role is hands‑on, requiring practical ability, strong customer service and teamwork to maintain properties to a high standard. All candidates must have the right to work in the UK; the company does not sponsor visas. Drivers of Mears vehicles must be over 21, hold a licence for at least three months and have fewer than nine points. Employment is subject to background, identity and security checks. • Communicate clearly with colleagues and residents.

Benefits
The position offers an annual salary of up to £24,339.36 for a General Operative based in Medway.
