Senior Transportation Project Manager (Part-Time)

About the Role

• Manage NCDOT transportation design projects. • Lead project management for large‑scale conventional and non‑conventional contracts for area clients. • Establish and maintain client relations; participate in marketing, contractual, design, and production meetings. • Perform quality assurance checks on major transportation projects on state highway systems. • Engage in client interaction and project management duties. • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies. • Collaborate across multiple business groups and market sectors. • Work with area leadership to plan, manage, and coordinate staff opportunities regionally. • Conduct design development work sessions and contract document preparation with staff. • Coordinate workload throughout project development and ensure timely document completion. • Track financial aspects of projects and adjust work effort to meet schedule parameters. • Collaborate with Business/Accounting Manager, Project Controller, and Area Manager for project reviews and with company management as needed. • Develop, manage, and supervise staff of design professionals and technicians.

What You Bring

• 15 years experience in all aspects of engineering and/or planning. • Professional Engineer (PE) license; ability to obtain NC PE license. • Experience with urban and rural highway interchanges, intersection design, traffic management, transportation planning, and site planning. • Proficiency with InRoads and Microsoft Office applications. • Prior project experience working with NCDOT. • Demonstrated leadership skills. • Local candidates preferred. • Bachelor’s degree in a related field. • Minimum 10 years related experience. • At least 5 years of project management experience. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software. • Ability to interact with various design teams; excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills (written and verbal).
