About the Role
• Control project costs and manage financial documentation, including pay applications and change orders. • Collaborate with preconstruction to develop project estimates and schedules. • Coordinate scopes of work and award subcontracts. • Administer contracts and draft client proposals. • Provide direction, mentorship, and career development for project engineers and team members. • Lead subcontractors and suppliers, facilitating coordination meetings. • Supervise budget, recommend subcontractors, and lead buyout activities. • Perform on‑site Project Manager duties for small‑scope projects. • Implement quality plans to meet customer performance criteria. • Act as liaison for project engineers and ensure safe, timely project completion.

What You Bring
Mortenson is seeking an experienced Assistant Project Manager for its Data Center Structured Cabling team. The role partners with the Project Manager from bid preparation through final client acceptance and includes leading, coaching, and mentoring project team members. Strong communication, flexibility, dedication, efficiency, integrity, and confidentiality are essential for success. The position requires 100% travel on a rotating schedule, with opportunities across the United States in locations such as Louisiana, New Mexico, Wyoming, Wisconsin, and Indiana. Travel flexibility is a core component of the role. • Possess a bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, Architectural Engineering, or Construction Management (or equivalent experience). • Bring at least six years of relevant experience on complex projects. • Demonstrate strong detail orientation to organize and lead multiple tasks. • Understand basic construction law and accepted business practices. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and intermediate-level project/web applications. • Maintain a positive professional attitude with strong customer service and communication skills. • Hold a valid driver’s license and be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship.
