About the Role

If you have a keen interest in understanding how things work and a strong attention to detail, this role offers an exciting, stimulating environment where you will collaborate with engineering, marketing, and customers. You will be an important team‑player contributing to the development of models for multiple simulation tools used in power system studies, a key element for sustainable future grids. You will develop simulation models that virtually represent real control and protection systems, participate in process development, and provide both internal and external engineering support. Your duties include verification studies focused on dynamic performance, defining model structures and code modules, creating simulation program interfaces, and supporting HVDC system design projects and tenders while ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and Hitachi Energy’s safety and integrity values. • Develop simulation models for power system studies and virtual control/protection systems. • Conduct verification studies with emphasis on dynamic performance. • Design and maintain simulation program interfaces, tools, and processes. • Provide internal and external engineering support for HVDC system design, projects, and tenders. • Ensure adherence to internal and external regulations, procedures, and Hitachi Energy safety and integrity standards.

What You Bring

Candidates should hold a Master of Engineering in Power Systems (2‑10 years experience) or a PhD in Power Systems (1‑5 years experience). Required knowledge includes power‑system studies, network modelling, IEC/IEEE standards, and HV/EHV applications such as HVDC and FACTS, as well as proficiency with tools like PSSE, EMTDC/PSCAD, MATLAB or Mathcad. A solid understanding of power‑system equipment (transformers, capacitors, reactors, instrument transformers, circuit breakers, etc.) and strong English communication skills are also essential. • Hold a Master’s (2–10 years) or PhD (1–5 years) in Power Systems engineering. • Demonstrate extensive knowledge of power‑system modelling, IEC/IEEE standards, and HV/EHV applications such as HVDC and FACTS. • Proficient in power‑system simulation tools (PSSE, EMTDC/PSCAD) and calculation software (MATLAB, Mathcad). • Understand selection, sizing, and integration of power‑system equipment (transformers, capacitors, reactors, breakers, etc.). • Exhibit strong interpersonal, communication skills and fluency in English.
