About the Role
The engineer will design, develop, and review drawings and submittals for elevators, escalators, and moving walkways, adapting design features to meet project requirements. Responsibilities include leading project teams through conceptual, schematic, detailed, and construction phases, performing condition assessments, producing reports, and inspecting installations on site. • Design and review vertical transportation drawings and submittals for elevators, escalators, and moving walkways. • Develop design criteria from conceptual to construction documents and lead project teams. • Perform condition assessments, write modernization reports, and conduct on‑site inspections and testing. • Calculate elevator number, size, and speed using Elevate® software and provide retrofitting design feedback. • Deliver solutions for new construction, retrofits, and equipment modernization on complex projects.

What You Bring
The Senior Vertical Transportation Engineer role is based in New York, with options to work from NYC, Piscataway, or Bloomfield, NJ, and includes up to 5‑10% travel for field assessments across the United States. This position offers the chance to work on a variety of vertical transportation projects, expanding expertise into new territories. Candidates must hold a bachelor’s degree and have at least six years of vertical transportation experience, with U.S. citizenship required. Preferred qualifications include ten years of experience, an active Professional Engineering license or Qualified Elevator Inspector certification, strong analytical and communication skills, and proficiency with Elevate®, AutoCAD, BIM/Revit, and Microsoft Office tools. • Bachelor’s degree plus at least 6 years of vertical transportation experience; U.S. citizenship required. • Preferred: 10+ years experience, active PE license or QEI certification, and strong analytical skills. • Proficient with passenger‑traffic analysis software (Elevate), AutoCAD, BIM/Revit, and Microsoft Office. • Excellent communication, client‑relationship building, and ability to meet strict deadlines.
