About the Role
The role is responsible for leading design strategy, execution, and talent development for both digital and in‑branch experiences. It delivers cohesive, scalable, user‑centered solutions across multiple product areas while building and guiding a high‑performing design team in partnership with Product, Engineering, and Business leaders. Key responsibilities include owning and evolving the design vision and service‑design thinking for omnichannel journeys, leading and mentoring designers, and managing hiring, onboarding, performance, promotion readiness, and succession planning. The leader also establishes design processes, rituals, and standards, governs the design system, partners with research to shape strategy, and represents design in cross‑functional leadership forums. • Define and evolve design vision and strategy for digital and in‑branch experiences. • Apply service‑design thinking to create seamless omnichannel journeys. • Lead, mentor, and grow a multi‑level design team, overseeing hiring, onboarding, performance, and succession planning. • Identify skill gaps and invest in capability building aligned with future product needs. • Establish and refine design processes, rituals, and standards to improve velocity and quality. • Govern the design system, ensuring scalability, accessibility, and efficient adoption. • Partner with research to shape strategy, validate outcomes, and translate insights into design improvements. • Represent design in cross‑functional leadership forums, communicating strategy, priorities, and risks to senior stakeholders. • Influence product roadmaps and investment decisions through data‑driven design rationale. • Provide hands‑on design leadership for high‑impact work without acting as delivery backfill.

What You Bring
The position requires analytical decision‑making based on professional methods and business principles, with authority over new programs that can significantly impact the business. It involves managing multiple small teams, occasional light lifting, and less than 10 % overnight travel, primarily in a comfortable indoor work environment. Typically a BS/BA is required, along with 7+ years of relevant experience; advanced degrees may offset experience gaps. Preferred qualifications include 8‑12+ years of professional design experience, 4+ years leading design teams, a strong portfolio, deep expertise in UX, UI, service design, accessibility, and proficiency with tools such as Figma, Miro, and research platforms. • 7+ years of experience in a related discipline; BS/BA required, advanced degree optional. • 8‑12+ years of professional design experience, including 4+ years leading design teams in a product‑led organization. • Strong portfolio showcasing strategic thinking, team leadership, and high‑quality execution. • Deep expertise in UX, UI, service design, accessibility, and end‑to‑end design processes. • Proficiency with modern design and research tools (e.g., Figma, Miro, UserTesting, JourneyTrack). • Excellent communication and presentation skills, influencing stakeholders at all levels. • Experience working in agile environments and collaborating with product and engineering teams.
