About the Role

After an initial six‑week training period, the Project Engineer prepares proposals, cost estimates, detailed designs, and schedules for plant upgrades and replacements, assists in project planning, permitting, and design of retrofits, coordinates with external engineering firms, fabricators, and contractors, and conducts production process analysis using tools like AggFlow to identify bottlenecks. The engineer also creates technical drawings for structural, civil, and mechanical components, aligns production needs with plant capacity, maintains comprehensive project documentation, communicates with internal and external stakeholders, and performs additional duties as assigned. • Learn and integrate the company's safety culture, mining processes, and production operations during a six‑week training period. • Prepare project proposals, cost estimates, detailed designs, and schedules for upgrades and replacements at aggregate and asphalt plants. • Assist in project planning, permitting, cost estimation, and drafting designs for plant retrofits and modifications. • Coordinate with external engineering firms, fabrication teams, and contractors to ensure projects stay within scope, budget, and timeline. • Perform production process analysis using tools like AggFlow to identify bottlenecks and recommend efficiency improvements. • Provide technical support and create detailed drawings for structural, civil, and mechanical designs of processing plants. • Align production needs with plant capacities through design and analysis. • Maintain accurate project documentation, including design drawings, reports, budgets, and proposals. • Communicate effectively with internal teams, executives, and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on project goals.

What You Bring

The company is seeking a Project Engineer for its Operational Services and Support department at the corporate office in Nashville. Reporting to the Engineering Manager or Director of Engineering, the role supports planning, design, and execution of projects that optimize operations and ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations, offering hands‑on experience in mining and construction and collaboration with cross‑functional teams. Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Mining Engineering and preferably have two years of related engineering experience or aggregate industry knowledge. Proficiency with AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar drafting software and strong competence in Microsoft Office Suite are required, along with familiarity with structural, civil, and mechanical design aspects such as concrete foundations, steel structures, and power transmission systems. Experience with plant erection or modification, analytical problem‑solving skills, excellent communication and teamwork abilities, and a willingness to work in both office and field environments are also essential. • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, or Mining Engineering (preferred). • Two years of related engineering experience or aggregate industry knowledge (preferred). • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Inventor, or similar drafting software. • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project). • Familiarity with structural, civil, and mechanical designs, including concrete foundations, steel structures, and power transmission systems. • Experience with plant erection, modification, or rebuild (plus). • Analytical skills to identify and implement production process enhancements. • Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and teamwork skills. • Willingness to work in both office and field environments in all climates, including plant sites.
