About the Role
Foreman directs and manages all on‑site construction workers, subcontractors, and equipment, enforcing the company’s direction, policies, procedures and safety standards, while meeting construction deadlines. The Foreman leads and directs personnel, equipment and resources for installation of water, sewer and storm drainage systems, ensuring crew productivity, compliance with specifications and schedules, and effective use of materials. They coordinate daily activities, manage subcontractors, operate heavy equipment as needed, and enforce the company’s Code of Ethics and safety program. Supervisory duties include hiring orientation, attendance monitoring, task delegation, handling employee concerns, and liaising with Human Resources on recruitment, training and disciplinary actions. The Foreman promotes a safety culture by conducting meetings, reviewing work plans, investigating incidents, and ensuring safe work practices. • Direct people, equipment and resources for installation of water, sewer and storm drainage systems. • Ensure crew deployment and productivity. • Communicate with Superintendent and Project Managers and report issues affecting project plans. • Read and interpret plans and specifications; ensure materials meet contract specifications. • Organize daily activities of crew, subcontractors and equipment; apply corrective actions to stay on time and budget. • Identify and implement best practices for efficient material use. • Plan work order to maximize progress safely and timely. • Review and adhere to construction schedules, meeting milestones and completion dates. • Operate company equipment lawfully, maintain and use it effectively. • Operate heavy equipment and perform construction duties as required. • Ensure compliance with the Code of Ethics and apply its principles in decision‑making. • Provide orientation for new hires and oversee required training. • Monitor attendance, notify crews of weather delays, and manage crew punctuality. • Delegate tasks, supervise, lead and direct the base crew. • Liaise between company and employees on various employee matters; handle investigations and disciplinary actions. • Collaborate with Human Resources on recruitment, benefits, training, terminations and investigations. • Enforce progressive disciplinary policy fairly and consistently. • Promote and execute the company safety program; conduct daily/weekly safety meetings and inspections. • Review safe work plans and hazard assessments with crew before work starts. • Work with Safety Department to investigate incidents and ensure proper procedures. • Perform work safely to avoid injury to self or others. • Contribute technical and administrative support as needed and collaborate on special initiatives. • Follow company safety policies and procedures as outlined in the safety manual.
